Miracle Temple COGIC

Dr. Joseph D. Clemmons Sr.         Lady Fran Collier-Clemmons

Reverend Dr. Joseph D. Clemmons, Sr. is the founding pastor of MIRACLE TEMPLE CHURCH Of GOD In CHRIST of NORWALK, INC.

He is also the 3rd pastor of Historic FIRST CHURCH Of God In Christ, Brooklyn NY, founded by his father, Bishop Frank Clemmons, and was succeeded by his brother, Bishop Ithiel Clemmons.

He fervently works to serve the needs of people both within and outside the walls of the church and reaches across cultural lines with his fluency in Spanish.  He retired (1979) as a certified teacher of Spanish teaching in Norwalk and Bridgeport to devote full time to the ministry.

 Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry Degrees from Yale Divinity School and Colgate Rochester Divinity School were earned by him.  He became a Dr. Martin Luther King Fellow in 1975.

A former President of the Hampton University Ministers' Conference, Hampton, VA, he continues to serve on its Executive Board.  Addressing issues of social justice and serving as a change agent in an increasingly unjust society makes him effective both in the pulpit and politics, having served Norwalk as a Councilman and as a Connecticut State Legislator.  He has and continues to serve in numerous civic and community roles:

*        A former Norwalk Fire Department Chaplain;
*        A champion for change during the turbulent 60's as Chairman and member of
          Board of Directors of Norwalk
          Norwalk Economic Opportunity Now (NEON)
*        Founder of a Christ centered drug program -"Pivot Ministries";
*        Executive director and board member of Norwalk Area Ministry
*        Elected councilman for the City of Norwalk in 1995 and
*        Served as State Representative for 3 terms (1997-2002) in the Connecticut State
          Legislature for Norwalk's 140th District.
*
November 2004 elected as an Associate Justice of the nine-member Judiciary
          Board of the Church of God in Christ World-wide. He was elected to a seven-
          year term.  The Judiciary Board reviews and renders final decisions on cases
          referred from lower tribunals of the church.

He is a preacher, teacher, lecturer, consultant, pastor and "light" who is truly committed to sharing his GOD given talents with others in many venues:

*        Hampton University Ministers' Conference (VA)
*        Prairie View A&M University Ministers' Conference (TX)
*        Yale Divinity School (CT)
