Miracle Temple Church Of God In Christ, Inc. was officially born June 25, 1973.  The pastor and sixty members entered into a covenant of faith with an unswerving commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ, the church and to ministry in the world.

The small band of believers was both without funds or a permanent worship facility.  In spite of the limitation, Miracle Temple survived and became a living example of what can be done with hope, vigor and dedication.

Several churches in the area - Rowayton United Church of Christ, First Congregational Church on the Green and South Norwalk Congregational Church - shared their facilities with the congregation.  In September 1973, Trinity Episcopal Church invited the band of believers to hold services in its Parish Hall.  The stay was short-lived.  Sunday evening, July 21, 1974, a devastating fire destroyed the Trinity Episcopal Church.

It appeared the timing of the fire could not have been worse.  Pastor Clemmons was a candidate for his Doctor of Ministry Degree at Colgate Rochester, Rochester, NY and also needed to search for a worship site for the members.  However, a day after, the Reverend Henry Yordon (First Congregational on the Green) invited him to share the First Congregational facilities and urged him not to drop out of his doctoral studies.  That Degree was conferred May 9, 1975.

Miracle Temple purchased the former Trinity Church property and its ruins May 13, 1975, to rebuild it into a permanent worship home.  1979 was Miracle Temple's first year in its reconstructed home for worship at Two Trinity Place. 

Its history testifies to the determination to build a permanent worship facility to enable people through the power of the Word and the Holy Spirit to serve the community and this age.  Through the Worship Center, South Norwalk Social Service Center and Outreach Ministries Miracle Temple is addressing the needs of our community.
